PDPA Training at Evyap Sabun Malaysia Sdn Bhd

On 23 October 2025, Shearn Delamore & Co. had the pleasure of delivering a full-day, tailored Personal Data Protection Act (PDPA) workshop training for Evyap Sabun Malaysia Sdn Bhd, aimed at strengthening data-protection awareness across the organisation.

The programme began with a welcome address by our Partner Indran Shanmuganathan, followed by our Senior Associate Elisia Engku Kangon, who provided an in-depth overview of core PDPA concepts. She also guided participants through the 7 Personal Data Protection Principle by sharing practical compliance strategies and real-life application examples.

Our Partner Sim Sook Eng then led the session by highlighting the 2024 amendments to the PDPA, which include key compliance responsibilities and timelines under the newly introduced data breach notification requirement and the obligation to appoint a Data Protection Officer (DPO).

Our Associate Ng Ying Chia delivered a segment on cross-border transfer of personal data, before joining Sim Sook Eng to facilitate interactive “Spot the Red Flag” scenario-based discussions, enabling participants to identify potential personal data breach risks and apply core PDPA principles in real-world situations.

Throughout the session, Indran Shanmuganathan shared his views on why PDPA compliance is a shared responsibility across every department, as every employee plays a vital part in safeguarding personal data.

A big thank you to Firdaus Wong and Sharifah Salmah from the Legal team of Evyap Sabun Malaysia Sdn. Bhd. for organising this training, and to all participants for their active engagement throughout the session.
