IP Book Launch
Book Launch & Panel Discussion - Law and Practice of Intellectual Property Law in Malaysia
We are pleased to share the successful launch of the book “Law and Practice of Intellectual Property Law in Malaysia”, held on 23 June 2025 and officiated by YAA Tun Tengku Maimun binti Tuan Mat, the Chief Justice of Malaysia.
Published by Thomson Reuters Malaysia, this up-to-date and practical guide is co-edited by YA Datuk Wong Kian Kheong (Judge, Court of Appeal) and Indran Shanmuganathan (Partner, Shearn Delamore & Co.). The book offers an in-depth overview of Malaysian IP law, covering Trademarks, Patents, Copyright, Industrial Designs, and Trade Secrets. We are proud that our Partners, Jyeshta Mahendran, Michelle Loi, Sook Eng Sim, and Yap Khai Jian, were among the contributing authors to this milestone publication.
The launch event was attended by honoured members of the Malaysian judiciary (both current and retired), including Justice Dedar Singh Gill of the Singapore High Court, representatives from the State Bars of Malaysia, practitioners from the local IP community, and other distinguished guests.
A panel discussion titled “From Creation to Protection to Enforcement: Navigating the IP Lifecycle” accompanied the launch. It was moderated by YA Datuk Wong Kian Kheong, and featured engaging insights from Mr. Khoo Guan Huat, Professor David Llewelyn, and Mr. Teo Bong Kwang on best practices to protect one’s IP, challenges posed by emerging technology such as AI, and trends in recent IP protection and enforcement strategy.
We are deeply honoured to be part of this important milestone to Malaysia’s IP landscape.
