2025 Year in Review – Privacy, Protection & Preparedness: Managing Data and Cyber Risks in Your Business
Our Personal Data Protection & Privacy Laws Practice Group recently hosted 2025 Year in Review – Privacy, Protection & Preparedness: Managing Data and Cyber Risks in Your Business on 13 November 2025 at the Asian International Arbitration Centre. It is a throwback to a year which saw a robust 3-phase implementation of the Personal Data Protection (Amendment) Act 2024.
We were deeply honoured by the presence of the Personal Data Protection Commissioner, YBrs. Puan Shariffah Rashidah binti Syed Othman, who delivered an insightful keynote address and set a thoughtful direction for the discussions ahead particularly on the evolving PDPA landscape and emerging regulatory expectations.
Throughout the day, our panels explored a full spectrum of issues shaping the data and cybersecurity space — from practical compliance strategies for in-house teams and DPOs, dispute readiness and anticipating enforcement risks, operational and legal considerations in responding to cyber incidents and data breaches as well as lessons from real-world cases shared by cyber forensics, insurance and regulatory experts. We were privileged to be joined by a group of speakers that included both the current and former officers from the Personal Data Protection Department and the National Cyber Security Agency, specialists from S-RM and Marsh, data protection officers and senior legal / technology professionals from IOI Properties Group Berhad and AHAM Asset Management Berhad, our colleague from Drew & Napier LLC, Singapore, as well as our partners Janet Toh, Timothy Siaw, Irene Yong, Michelle Loi and Lilien W..
We sincerely thank all our speakers, panellists and participants for their depth, candour and engagement throughout the sessions. Your insights and conversations made this event a meaningful and forward-looking platform for the industry.
