At Shearn Delamore & Co., our pupils are instructed in the various aspects of a Solicitor’s relationship with a client. To this end we encourage and promote interaction and discussions between our pupils and lawyers; allowing our pupils to obtain in-depth knowledge and guidance on matters relating to practice.
We have in place established pupil-master guidelines to ensure that our pupils are well grounded in the rules of conduct and etiquette of the legal profession.
We also have in place a structured programme for our pupils during their nine months with us.
Our pupils are assigned to different practice groups by rotation on a monthly basis. In this manner, our pupils are given the widest possible exposure to the workings of every practice group.
In the course of their pupillage, our pupils can expect to be exposed to a wide range of work, particularly given the diverse areas of practice within the firm. In addition, our pupils are expected to attend Court for mentions and minor hearings (once they are short-called), accompany lawyers for meetings or due diligence exercises, and occasionally travel out of Kuala Lumpur for these or other purposes. Our pupils will also be able to assist lawyers in Court and for arbitrations.
In addition to pupillage opportunities, the firm also provides internship for individuals who are keen to get a taste of life in a large law firm.
